Depart from the Airport and aim straight for Table Mountain if it is a clear day. The Cape weather is extremely temperamental and advantage will be taken at any opportunity of clear weather to see the spectacular view from the top of the mountain. The cable car is the quickest way to the top where you can walk along well trodden routes to marvel at the wonder that is the Cape peninsula. A light lunch or snack is available on the mountain. After this check in to the accommodation and spend the remainder of the afternoon at the Victoria & Alfred (V&A) Waterfront before supper.
After breakfast a short boat ride will take you to Robben Island where you will be guided through the prison and see where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years. After lunch at the V&A Waterfront you will have the opportunity to visit the Two Oceans Aquarium and maybe even witness feeding time too or spend the rest of the day shopping in the area.
Day three takes you onto one of South Africa’s most beautiful and evocative areas, Cape Point. You cannot see Cape Point without leaving it and feeling something. It is the point where two oceans meet, a place where you are immersed in nature and the view is spectacular. You become part of the elements, the wind gushing past, the sun shining, the water pounding against the rocks, the earth solid under your feet. A visit to the lighthouse puts it all into perspective. The way back takes you past picturesque Simon’s Town, the home of the South African Navy and a visit to Boulders beach to visit the penguins that will complement and complete the elemental experience of Cape Point.
A drive North to Stellenbosch will take you into the wine route area. Stellenbosch is the oldest town in South Africa, founded in 1679. It is replete with history, Cape Dutch architecture, ancient trees lanes, cobble stones and is the home of the world renowned Stellenbosch University. This is followed by visits to a couple of wine estates in the picturesque Franschhoek area and along the wine route back to Cape Town.
Spend the morning relaxing and shopping, taking in the sea air, the atmosphere, the charm of Cape Town before leaving for the airport.
